GSS Gives Over $11,000 Since 2012

The Matched Savings program has helped many GSS guests develop good saving habits

Jodi

In 2012 the Good Samaritan Shelter, in partnership with National Penn Bank, launched the Matched Savings Program. The program was designed to encourage clients to develop good saving habits. To enroll in the program, a client must first open up a savings account at National Penn Bank, then over the course of several months they deposit money into their account. If the client is able to save up to $600 over the course of several months GSS will match it, dollar-for dollar.

Since 2012, over 20 clients have successfully completed the program and have received checks of $600. The total amount of money the Good Samaritan Shelter has given away since 2012 is over $11,000.

Clients use this additional money to move into permanent housing or achieve other goals to help them towards independence.

GSS is extremely grateful to National Penn Bank for making this life-changing program possible!
