Five Years of Dedication
Partnerships don’t just occur overnight. The most impactful relationships take time, energy, and consistency to create. Victor Jackson, an employee at SEI, has been championing volunteer teams for Good Samaritan Services’ Phoenixville locations since 2014. Over the past five years, Victor and a group of employees from SEI have been consistent in completing vital projects. The projects have ranged from painting to yard work, to maintenance within our homes. They’re always making a difference! Victor and his co-workers’ years of diligence and consistency in serving Good Sam have earned us the status of a Partner Organization with SEI Cares.
“One of the things that is most attractive about Good Sam is that it’s not just housing people. Good Sam is a transformative agent in the lives of people who have come across tough times.”
SEI began its grant organization, SEI Cares, as a response to the tragedies of 9/11. Their employees were broken-hearted and desirous to respond in compassion. Gathering together as an organization they reached out to provide for first responders, families, and those impacted by the tragic event. Afterward, SEI Cares began to grow. As employees of SEI become passionate about local organizations, they work together with SEI to create a partnership plan.
When SEI Cares partners with small local charities like Good Sam, they make a huge impact. This is something that’s incredibly important to them and their employees. When they partner with local charities, they can make site visits, meet the staff, and work side by side. It’s an impact you can see. Each SEI Cares Partner Organization has an SEI employee who has already been invested. Those are the charities they choose to financially support. Suggestions don’t come from management, they come from employees who say, “This is who we are passionate about.” Then these employees work hard to show their commitment to organizations like Good Sam.
“We like to get our hands dirty and work side by side with the organization.” – John Grasso, President of SEI Cares
When Victor began working at SEI, he began to pursue Partner Status for Good Sam with SEI Cares. He planned volunteer events, coordinated schedules, communicated our mission, and diligently supported Good Sam. As a long time resident of Phoenixville, he knows its struggles. Although it isn’t always visible like in larger metropolitan areas, it was still recognized that many were experiencing homelessness. “One of the things that is most attractive about Good Sam is that it’s not just housing people. Good Sam is a transformative agent in the lives of people who have come across tough times,” Victor said when asked why he chose to become an advocate for Good Sam.
Because of Victor’s passion, not only have we been blessed with countless hours of volunteer service, we’ve now begun to receive grant funding from the SEI Cares Foundation. We are so grateful for the time, energy, and finances that have been invested in Good Sam. As we continue to serve those who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Chester and Lancaster County, their support will continue to make a transformative difference.
